Short bio
I run Gazzetta, a research and consulting practice. I help journalism organizations shift from donor-driven content strategies to services built around what communities actually need โ particularly in places where information is controlled or contested.
Most of my work involves audience research in hard-to-reach populations, newsroom restructuring, and the design of news products that people use because they're useful, not because they're virtuous.
Before starting Gazzetta, I led Radio Free Europe's digital transformation, where I built its audience research, marketing, and product departments, along with a journalism academy and innovation lab. I've reported for the New York Times, the South China Morning Post, and Swiss public broadcasting, co-founded the Environmental Reporting Collective, and taught at the University of Hong Kong. I have a doctorate in political science and was a 2023 Sulzberger Fellow at Columbia.
